Port of Corpus Christi scores record tonnage in first half of 2021

The port of Corpus Christi announced that it ended June 2021 with a new quarter and half of the year records, moving almost 80.5 million tons of cargo .

The port’s total tonnage in the first half of 2021 showed an increase of 4.7% compared to the same period of 2020 , in part due to a 72% year-on-year increase in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) exports, a year-on-year increase of 42 % in agricultural products and a 3.6% increase in crude oil exports.

Crude oil exports for the first half of 2021 averaged 1.58 million barrels per day, slightly above the full-year 2020 execution rate. Overall, nearly 43 million tons of cargo moved through the Port of Corpus Christi in the second quarter, an increase of 2% from the previous quarterly record set in the fourth quarter of 2020.

This performance comes on the heels of a record high in 2020 when the Port of Corpus Christi saw a 31% increase in overall gateway volumes and associated record revenue, thus maintaining its high investment grade ratings and positive outlook. for the Port Authority.
